Custom Food Products was founded in 1945 and became a pioneer in the food service industry creating beef and chicken soup bases. In 1965 the company pioneered Meat First™ bases and formalized its selling program to the foodservice industry. The company grew steadily over the next decades. 

Griffith Laboratories purchased the company in 1991. Griffith Laboratories manufactures food products such as seasoning blends, crumbs, dry mixes, flavors and sauces. While the Griffith Laboratories name may not be recognizable to the general public, its products are key components in products offered by some of the world's best known companies.

In 2004, Custom Food Products changed its name to Custom Culinary, Inc. to better reflect the company's focus on providing a full line of authentic culinary flavor solutions to foodservice operators and processors.
