Naturally, food safety is always a priority in our industry. Now we find ourselves in a time where customers are acutely aware of food handling and cleanliness in foodservice. In fact, 42% of consumers say “clean and sanitary” is the top consideration when choosing a restaurant today (Source: Datassential, The Next Phase, May 2020). We recently encouraged our team members to take the ServSafe Food Handlers Course to earn their certificate. We’re pleased to announce that 30 employees across marketing, sales, and culinary, accepted the challenge.
For some it was new, for others it was a refresher. Even course veterans admitted they learned several good tips. The course is presented by the National Restaurant Association and ServSafe and covers topics such as basic food safety, personal hygiene, allergens, and cleaning and sanitation. In an effort to help the industry keep employees and customers safe, ServSafe offered this course free of charge throughout April and May, and we are grateful for the opportunity.
In our organization, we hold a strong commitment to safety and sanitation, and we’re proud that so many individuals took it upon themselves to learn best practices from expert educators. It’s part of providing excellent service to our customers—understanding your business from daily procedures, to challenges, to managing your back of house. Great work, team! Thank you for accepting the challenge.
