Classic Chili con Carne

Yield: 1 gallon

Amount Ingredients
3 lbs Ground Beef
2 cups Onions, Fine Chopped
1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
2 Tbsp. Chili Powder
1 ½ qt Water
1/3 cup Custom Culinary® Gold Label Beef Base, No MSG Added
1 qt Red Kidney Beans, Canned, Drained, Rinsed
3 cups Tomatoes, Canned, Crushed in Puree
1 Tbsp. Sugar (optional)

  1. In an 8 Liter (2 gallon) cook pot over medium high heat, cook ground beef and onions until beef is browned and onions are translucent, approx. 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add flour and chili powder, blend thoroughly and cook 2-3 minutes stirring constantly.
  3. Add water, Custom Culinary® Gold Label Beef Base, beans and tomatoes, mix well. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and gently simmer 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add sugar if desired to lower acidity and balance all flavors.
