Classic Sweet Sour Sauce for Beef

A classic Asian sauce to add great flavors to any dish. Featuring Custom Culinary® Gold Label Beef Base, Classic Sweet-Sour Sauce for beef brings together the sweet flavors of ketchup and sugar with the savory flavors of red wine vinegar. Tabasco sauce, steak sauce, and beef.

Yield: 2 gallons

Amount Ingredients
1 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
1/2 oz. Garlic, Minced
1 (#10) can Ketchup
1/2 gal. Water
2 oz. Custom Culinary® Gold Label Beef Base
1 cup Rice Wine Vinegar
2 tsp. Tabasco Sauce
1 (5-oz.) bottle A.1. Sauce
1 lbs. Sugar
1 cup Sesame Oil
PREPARATION

  1. In a 6-qt sauce pan or steam jacketed kettle, heat oil over medium high heat. Add garlic. Cover and sweat garlic 3-5 minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  2. Add ketchup, water, Gold Label Beef Base, vinegar, tabasco sauce, A.1. sauce and sugar, mixing well. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and gently simmer  30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add sesame oil, mixing well. Gently simmer 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently.
